See below what Jason, a member of the Living Water Lutheran Church (LCMS), wrote in his blog “Nota’s Nook” about our contemporary service music performers.
(The Well) Well Done
While on vacation my family and I visited Saint Johns Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem, NC. We purposely got up early on Sunday morning to attend their 8:30am contemporary service (The Well).
It was nice to be able to sing the modern worship songs that were familiar and meaningful to us.
Even though this service was called “contemporary,” Saint Johns did include many of the essential elements of the Lutheran Divine Service. There was the confession and absolution, Scripture reading, sermon, Nicene Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, The Lord’s Supper, and benediction.
Throughout the entire service the focus was on Christ. Neither the musicians or music became the focus point of the service. The praise leaders and band did not take center stage, but was to the right of the platform and altar, tucked into a nook.
The entire service was projected on a large screen, which made the flow of the service pleasant and easy to follow.
In our opinion “The Well” was well done, and we were blessed.
Thank you Jason for the kind words.
